Choosing a Post Box For Your Gate - January 5, 2011

If you have a gate on your house or flat, sometimes getting the post delivered can be a bit of a nightmare. Sometimes the postman refuses to even try to get in the gate, or won’t ring you even if you leave a number on the gate. If you have a gate, you may want to consider getting a post box.

Postboxes are a great way to save you hassle with the post when you are not at home or when the postman can’t get in your gate to get to your door. Simply mount one on your gate and your post will be deposited there and your postman won’t have to try to figure out what to do.

Postboxes and letterboxes can be purchased from companies such as Mailbox Mania for reasonable prices. You can find different styles and materials. You can get rear retrieval postboxes, extra large letterboxes, plastic boxes, and even US style boxes letterboxes. Whatever your taste or style, you can find a post box that you like to put on your gate.

If you live in block of flats, or even a house divided into flats, make sure to put your number on the box so the postman knows which flat the box is for. Also, if you do not own the building and the gate, make sure to ask the owner if it is okay for you to put up a post box.

Once you have your box up, you should no more worries about your post delivery.

USA To UK - Mail Boxes - December 2, 2010

A little bit of cultural diversity can be a wonderful thing! We stock a splendid range of US mail boxes, designed and created to perfectly echo the illustrious original design of US Postal Service employee Roy J. Joroleman.

Joroleman’s eponymous design first hit the curbs of US streets in 1915. The domed, tunnel shaped body, latched door and moveable signal flag are as cemented in American culture as Ford pick-ups and maple syrup on bacon! The now familiar curved top was designed with weather resilience in mind, preventing snow and water gathering and damaging the mail box itself or post held within.

The original intention of the red (or sometimes orange) signal flag was to alert both the resident of a property to new mail, and also the postman to outgoing mail – a godsend in rural and weather-beaten areas!

We offer a choice of mail box material – standard galvanised steel or fully rust/weatherproof aluminium. Of course our designs feature the legendary red signal flag and optional black pole stand.

Our Steel Range (available in black or white)

Traditionally, US mail boxes are made using galvanised steel. Although indisposed to the ravages of the environment, these mail boxes are built to last in the same way as Volvos, Granddads and tractors are. Simply put, it’ll take a LOT of the tempestuous British weather to mar our steel mail boxes!

Our Aluminium Range (available in black, white or silver)

As a completely weatherproof option, our aluminium mail boxes are a great option for those less concerned with authenticity.

Privacy and Your Mail - November 24, 2010

The importance of guaranteed privacy in our growing population should never be underestimated. With a population exceeding 60,000,000 living, working and playing in an area 1/13 the size of Alaska, safeguarding personal space and security is an important step.

Whether at home or throughout the business world, postal services keep us connected and informed, providing a vital daily lifeline that most of us simply couldn’t live without. The security of this lifeline is certainly a valuable asset.

Occupancy
Multiple-occupancy mail boxes can present a problem when installed incorrectly. As unpleasant as it may sound, multiple-occupancy mail boxes often fall victim to vandalism, making their qualities of strength and durability more crucial than ever.

The absolute aim of our designers and instillation experts is the safety of occupant mail (be that from external threats or each other). We’re so confident in our multiple-occupancy mail boxes that we provide unique customer service post-instillation.

Commercial Business
Although potentially exposed to many of the same threats as multiple-occupancy post boxes, commercial business post boxes need be no less strong, professionally designed and installed, or durable. In busy atmospheres commercial post boxes make a fantastic way to guard the individual privacy of a person/business with incredible ease (resulting in far less lost post we’re sure!)

Whatever your mail issues, give one of our team a call to see what our designers and mailbox engineers could do for you in terms of providing workable, cost effective solutions that satisfy your mail needs 100%.

We may live in the digital era, but a vast majority of security-sensitive information still travels via postal services. Generally, post is sealed. But in an age where we sometimes don’t feel safe walking our local streets at night, the extra precaution of a custom letterbox designed to optimise the security of your post, your home and your peace of mind is no foolish step to take.

Our range of post boxes is unsurpassed in terms of strength, durability and reliability. Indeed they present a formidable task to any would-be burglars, thieves or vandals. Over the past three years we’ve really seen it all in terms of security threats and damage potential, which is exactly what’s helped to shape our fantastic designs. Personal use or commercial use, the risks are shockingly similar.

Anti-Arson Post Boxes
It’s not a very cheery subject to cover, but the issue of arson in both the home and commercial environments is unfortunately prevalent in our society. Our range of anti-arson letter boxes is designed to protect your home/office environment by quenching any fire that begins inside the box via an advanced heat sensitive fire extinguisher that activates instantly when a certain temperature is detected.

Whatever the security needs and concerns of your home or business, we’re confident that the mail box solution can be found in our catalogue. Call our staff on 01943-463-998 and talk through any concerns, seek advice or place an order.

Why Choose Cast Iron? - October 29, 2010

Cast Iron mailboxes were one of the earliest forms available on the market. They were originally designed to deter theft, with the original versions weighing much more than any others around. In many countries they were the most popular choice as a letter box for decades. So like any fashion, there’s a good chance they’ll always come back around.

With the stripped back minimalist fashion slowly dispersing, those with a flavour for something more ornate will get exactly what they want from cast iron. For a period home, there is no other choice if you want to set the property off with an authentic finishing touch, and when you consider that they are both resilient and attractive, they seem an obvious choice for almost any property.

Safety can be important when it comes to your mail, and cast iron mailboxes are both one of the strongest types around, while also usually being lockable, ensuring that your post stays yours. As long as you look after them correctly, they will last for a very long time indeed. Cast Iron can be prone to rusting so caring for them is important to keep them looking their best. However, that doesn’t mean they will be a problem. An occasional coating in oils or wax is all they will need to keep their great look.

So if you want something more than just a plain letter box, we at Mailbox Mania have great choice of cast iron mailboxes to make the right choice an easy one.

The Benefits of Exterior Mailboxes - October 19, 2010

It may be nice to simply have to make the trek to the front door to get the morning’s post, but for those with more over eager postmen, the sound of the letter box going can be enough to wake them, or if not them then the dog whose plaintive howling - at what is a common occurrence but still seems to always take them by surprise - will surely be enough to rouse even the deepest sleeper.

Then there is the worry that those perturbed puppies might in turn rip into that important letter or bank statement, leaving you with a shower of costly confetti across your hallway.

If these scenarios sound all too familiar, it is worth considering purchasing an outside mail box. An exterior mail box is not only practically superior in many ways, but can also be a great addition to the look of your house. While the standard letter box will leave you sawing a huge chunk out of what may well have been an expensive and attractive door, exterior mailboxes can be chosen to complement any aesthetic from the chic modern look to the old world rustic feel of the countryside.

Using an exterior mail box will also grant freedom from pesky drafts, so not only will you be treating yourself, you’ll also be treating the environment a little bit too. Mailbox Mania have a wide range of products to suit any needs, so if you want some peace, quiet and warmth, we are here to help.

Mailboxes for the Ardent Traveller - October 9, 2010

With today’s fast paced, expeditious lifestyles combined with the surge in low cost flight and holiday companies, being away from home for long periods of time has never been more standard than it is today. And unless you have a neighbour you can really trust to empty them on a regular basis, freestanding mailboxes can soon reach brimming point and leave your frustrated postman stuffing letters in places they shouldn’t go and leave thoughtless winds prone to scattering the contents of your life across your lawn for anyone to pick up.

Choosing the right mail box is much more important than one might think. Looks and material seem to be the main requirements, with most people opting for hard-wearing, weather resistant models which complement their pre-planned aesthetic. However, for those who may regularly be away for days on end, size should play a much more important part.

At Mailbox Mania we have an array of attractive, high quality mailboxes with larger than normal capacities to ensure that your mail stays your mail. Our Bobi range is widely regarded as the finest on the market offering you unbeatable quality and piece of mind for even longer sojourns.

Having extra space will also help when you’re not away too, meaning that larger packages can be left in your mail box, saving numerous trips to the post-office to pick up deliveries you might have missed.

If size matters to you, we’re almost certain to have the right style to fulfil all of your needs.

Mail Boxes, Not Male Boxes - October 4, 2010

Mailboxes don’t have to be masculine monstrosities. For those living off the beaten track, or simply those with a flavour for something a little more interesting and less intrusive than cutting a big hole in the front door, mailboxes can be both a practical answer and one that lends character to your garden and property.

While larger, stainless steel letterboxes might be more practical in terms of holding larger items and surviving any weather our fickle country might throw at it, they aren’t always particularly easy on the eye. If you are more interested in keeping the look of your carefully manicured garden in tact, then there are plenty of more rustic looking letterboxes that are equally tough against the weather.

Going for a more classic or interesting look, doesn’t have to mean you have to try and find something made a hundred years ago from rotting wood and tree sap. There are plenty of great quality items made from cast aluminium which are hard-wearing, attractive and versatile. For those with an eye for something more kitsch and quirky, there is also a range of US style mailboxes which are both durable and weatherproof, complete with the red flag to indicate when mail is ready to be collected.

Whatever style you need, we at Mailbox Mania are sure to have everything you need to ensure that neither looks nor practicality are overlooked and rather than being a blot on the landscape, your mailbox could add just the right amount of class that you are looking for.

Safe and Secure: Through-the-Wall Postboxes - September 24, 2010

For customers who require that extra level of security and discretion for their personal correspondence, through-the-wall mailboxes are an innovative solution to problems with mail security.

Through-the-wall post boxes have an ingenious design which only allows the postman access to the front mail slot, whilst only the home owner has access to the mail. Large capacity fixed depth post boxes are designed with various sizes of fixed depth mail chutes which allow the mail to slide safely to the bottom of the chute, only to be retrieved by the key holder. From the outside, these mailboxes look identical to more orthodox boxes and can be used either in walls, or on gate posts.  They are constructed from tough, galvanised, zinc coated steel, are weather proof, rust resistant, and include a cylinder lock with two keys included and an external window in which you can mount your name and/or address. These prime products are guaranteed for five years.

Our telescopic post boxes provide another versatile and innovative option. Their telescopic design allows the depth of mail chute to be easily adjusted and several mailboxes can be stacked on top of each other on your side of the wall in order to offer you ever increasing mailbox capacity. These boxes are available complete with letter plates in a variety of colours and are secured by cylinder lock with keys provided, have all fittings included and a three years manufacturer’s warranty. They have an adjustable depth which makes them suitable for any wall thickness up to 490mm.

Mailbox Mania will always keep your post safe and secure whatever the weather!
