While none of us like to think about it, it should be a consideration when choosing a residential mailbox, especially one that sits solely on the exterior of the building.

Both plastic and metal mailboxes offer some protection against the elements and against general wear and tear. Again, a number of options exist that allow you to choose either material and still be confident that a plastic mailbox or a metal residential mailbox will withstand the wind, rain, and the sun without corroding or eroding over time.
