The Post Box

As well as standard sized residential post boxes there are also extra large capacity residential post boxes and more specialist post boxes like those that include newspaper and magazine holders or the parcel safe box. Deciding how much capacity is enough capacity for your needs will mean first considering how much mail and other items you receive on a regular basis. The light user will be able to choose between any of the standard size post boxes while others may need to consider another option.

If you regularly have newspapers, magazines, brochures, and other large items delivered to your door then you can either consider an extra large capacity mailbox or consider adding a newspaper holder to your post box. Either method will have the same result because the large items will not cram the post box leading to damage for all items that are left.

Parcels and even large envelopes can also cause problems with mail delivery. Not only do some not fit fully into the delivery slot of normal post boxes leading to damage, this same problem can lead to your other mail and other items also becoming damaged. In the wet weather, this becomes an increased problem because the delivery slot will not close properly and potentially all of your mail will become sodden with the rain. Parcel safe boxes can be used on occasions where regular deliveries are made in order to reserve the post box for mail and protect everything that is delivered on a daily basis.
