Keeping Your Post Safe - May 25, 2009

There are unfortunately several ways in which your post can be damaged.
Even if we have never owned one, we have probably all seen the over-enthusiastic pet dog who gets so excited at the post’s arrival that he or she has a bit of a nibble at the daily mail that comes through the letterbox.  Some dogs go a step further and completely shred the post. This not only leaves a mess for the owner to come in to, it also means that they may miss some important post.
A great solution to pet naughtiness is to install a letter box outside the front door.  That way, your post stays unchewed and your letters arrive in one piece.  These letter boxes are usually of either metal or plastic construction and are usually attached to the wall outside the building, or are freestanding on the edge of the property.
These letter boxes are very secure. Most can only be accessed by a key and in the meantime your post stays dry and safe until you retrieve it.
The media is full of stories about identity theft and warnings to dispose of any letters carefully which could give potential fraudsters a head start. A letterbox outside your house helps to keep your post away from danger until you can open it.
